Take-Home Folders
Every child will have a folder that they will take home Monday-Thursday. Please check these folders EVERY NIGHT. Notes from the office, notes that need to be signed and reminders from the classroom will be sent home. There are two sides: Keep at Home and Send Back to School. There are also resources included in the folders as well as a pencil pouch to assist with homework. These folders do not go home on Fridays. If anything needs to be sent home on Fridays, we will provide a school folder that can be returned on Monday. Please put any notes in these folders. If you send in money, put it in a ziploc bag and include this in the folder.
Homework
Every Monday a homework packet will be sent home with four worksheets. These worksheets should be sent back to school on Friday completed to receive full credit. Sight words and counting should be practiced every night as well.
Reading with Your Child
Reading every night with your child is an important step to increase their literacy awareness. Every night a small book will be sent home for you to read with your child. Please return these books to school! Reading will need to be recorded in the Reading Log located in your child's folder. Three nights of reading will need to be recorded by Friday for full credit.
Clip Chart/Behaviors
In our classroom, there is a behavior chart posted that is coded by color. Each child starts their day on Green: Ready to Learn. If their behavior is exemplary, they will be asked to clip up. If their behavior is disrespectful or they are not following directions, they will clip down. The color that they are on by the end of the day will be recorded on a calendar located in their Take-Home folder and sent home every night. If you child is on red, they will be sent to Choice and you will be contacted. The rating on the Clip Chart is as follows:

Class Dojo
Class Dojo is an app that is used for both behavior and communication. Students will receive points throughout the day for being on task, helping others, appropriate hallway behavior, and completing and turning in their homework amongst other things. These points will be transferred to stamps on their pirate cards (See more about these below) The student at the end of the week with the most points will also get to pick a prize from our prize box.
This app is also used for communication. A code and instruction sheet will be sent home. Please sign up! Reminders will be sent on this app every week and personal communication as well. I will also be posting pictures showcasing what we are doing in the classroom!
